Space Marine 2 puts you in the armour of Lieutenant Titus against Tyranid swarms numbered in the hundreds. It became one of the biggest co-op games of 2024, and two years later it is in both Game Pass and PS Plus Extra, which makes the checkout decision unusually easy.
A wall of teeth
Saber's Swarm Engine fills the screen with Tyranids climbing over each other, and the combat is built to cut through them: parries, gun-strike ripostes and executions that restore your armour. It feels heavy and deliberate, exactly as a two-metre soldier in power armour should.
The campaign runs about nine hours and can be played with two friends or AI squadmates. Operations add co-op missions with seven classes, including the Techmarine, a free addition in February 2026.
Generous free updates
Every class, mission, weapon and mode added since launch has been free, including the 2026 updates and Steam Workshop mod support. An Apothecary class is planned for early 2027. There is also 6v6 PvP, though the co-op is the heart of it.
Where it stumbles
The campaign is short and some reviewers found it repetitive. Operations need an online connection to save progress. A late-2024 balance patch caused a backlash that the studio partly reversed. It is rated PEGI 18 for graphic violence, and on Steam Deck it is only Playable.
Who should buy it
Anyone with two friends and an evening free, and any Warhammer fan. Check your subscriptions first: it is in Game Pass Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and in PS Plus Extra.

The checkout: buying Space Marine 2 in the UK
The standard edition is £54.99 on Steam and £59.99 on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store (Xbox Play Anywhere, so the Windows version is included). The 1-Year Anniversary Edition adds Season Pass 1 (£79.99 on Steam, £84.99 on console); the 2-Year Anniversary Edition adds both passes (£99.99 on Steam, £109.99 on console).
Each season pass is a bundle of cosmetic Chapter, Champion and Cosmetic packs: £34.99 each on Steam, £32.99 on PlayStation. Single packs cost from about £4 to £9. None of them adds a mission, class or weapon.

In-game spending
The paid packs can be bought from inside the game as well as from the stores, but there is no premium currency and every pack lists its contents. Requisition, Armoury Data and Accolades are earned by playing and cannot be bought. PEGI shows no in-game purchases notice.
