The Steam Wallet

You can top up in steps of £4, £10, £25, £50 and £100, and the Wallet is used first at checkout by default. Balances are capped at about the equivalent of US$2,000. Wallet money cannot be withdrawn to a bank; only an unused top-up bought on Steam can be refunded, within 14 days. The Wallet can also pay for subscriptions sold on Steam.

Refunds

Valve refunds almost any purchase requested within 14 days with under two hours played, for any reason. Playtime offline and through Family sharing counts. You may even buy before a sale starts, refund and rebuy at the sale price. Outside those limits you can still ask; Valve says it will take a look.

In-game items in Valve's own games can be refunded within 48 hours if unused; in other publishers' games only if the developer has opted in, which the store shows at purchase. Refunds are paid within a week of approval, to the original method or the Wallet, whichever you choose on the form.

Region and gifts

Your store country is set by your first purchase, and changing it needs a payment method from the new country, at most once every three months. Purchases through a VPN are declined. Prices on the UK store include VAT. The minimum age for a Steam account is 13.
